One of the most common complaints we’ve heard about Google Apps is that you can’t view tasks in Google Calendar, as many of us were used to working with tasks via GroupWise back in the day.
Complain no more now that Google Tasks is available in your calendar! And you don’t have to activate the Tasks Lab in Gmail to see them; Calendar Tasks are enabled for everyone.
Click Tasks at upper-left in Google Calendar to make the Tasks window appear; any items you create with a due-date will appear in your Calendar at top in the all-day event region. Simply click to check them as complete when you’re done with them.
If you want to see your Tasks in your email as well, refer to our previous post on activating Google Tasks.
More on Tasks for Google Calendar is available via the Official Gmail Blog.

Any way to establish “recurring” tasks?
By Shad May 19, 2009 - 1:13 pm
An alternative is not to use the new Google Calendar implementation of Google Tasks, but instead to create all-day events for the days the recurring tasks take place. If you create a specific calendar for recurring tasks, you can then color-code the reminders to your heart’s desire to make them stand out better at the top of the calendar. The only feature you’ll be missing is the checkbox next to the task, but hopefully you’ll know when you’ve completed the task, making the checkbox moot.
As Google seems to be investing time and energy improving Tasks, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a recurring appointments option in the future.

Is there any way of relating/attaching one or more google docs to a task.? – (Like you can relate an email to a task.)
I think the “notes” field in a task is way to small and needs a formatting ribbon. But the ability to relate the task to a document could make up for it.
My whole work life is planned with the outlook task list :-| So above is actually the only thing thats preventing my switching 100% from outlook to google apps . :-)
NB! you could of course do as Shad suggest , but could be nice to use the task list, which is build for the purpose.

BTW! just made a quick test on Shads proposal. – Biggest problem is that an event does not move to the next day as overdue as a task does. . – you cant filter them due date or unfinished either.
- this gives quite a big risk of forgetting tasks if you miss them on due date!
Off course no problem if you never miss a task ;-)

You can’t filter tasks in the all-day event portion of your Calendar, but you can filter by due date (or in other ways) in the Calendar Tasks window on the right side of the page by clicking the Actions button.

How can I make my tasks recurring? Date specific and recurring? Thanks, Elena
By Shad Jessen January 4, 2010 - 10:16 am
You can’t create recurring Tasks at this time. You can make your Tasks date-specific by assigning a due date to the Task.
