Automatic Name Completion in GroupWise

When you begin typing a name or e-mail address in the TO:, BC:, or CC: field of a GroupWise message you’re composing, GroupWise may attempt to finish the name or address for you after each keystroke. This feature is governed by the “Name Completion Search Order” settings in the GroupWise Address Book (located under File > Name Completion Search Order under the GroupWise Address Book).

Automatic Name Completion can be helpful, especially when typing names or addresses you use frequently. But it can be maddening if names you don’t want keep popping up. It can also create problems if the address that pops up was originally mistyped and saved in your Frequent Contacts Address Book; the incorrect address may fill in automatically when you’re trying to type the correct address.

Fortunately, Automatic Name Completion settings can be adjusted to meet your wants and desires. You can determine specific Address Books and search order used by the Name Completion feature.

Also, if Automatic Name Completion finds a name that is close to the one you are looking for but not an exact match, you can use the Up or Down arrows on your keyboard to scroll through adjacent names in your Address Books.

Of course, if you simply can’t stand the Automatic Name Completion feature, you can disable it entirely by clicking “Disable Name Completion” under File > Name Completion in the GroupWise Address Book.
