Converting PDF Documents to Word
We get a lot of calls to the Help Desk from people asking how to convert PDF documents to Microsoft Word format. Often our first response is, “Why would you want to do that?” Which probably isn’t the most supportive thing we could say, since if a person really didn’t want to do that, they wouldn’t be calling us in the first place.
PDF documents are usually generated from an original master document, and technology being what it is, from time to time those original master documents can go missing.
There are methods in some PDF applications, such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, that allow you to extract text from PDF documents and import them into a text editor or word processer, but those tools are rather cumbersome and have a difficult time retaining any semblance of formatting.
Now a new free tool has been released called, appropriately, Free PDF to Word Doc Converter. This little software application allows you to open a PDF document (even one including graphics) and convert it to a nicely-styled Microsoft Word format.

You might like to try the new free ‘PDF to Word’ service too — http://www.pdftoword.com. On the files I’ve tried it’s been really accurate. The problem with HelloPDF was it’s not free — after a while it charges you to continue using it.
