Update: Clean Access

Clean Access, the authentication software OIT implemented last month on the University’s wireless and residence hall networks, successfully identified hundreds of computers connecting to the University’s network infrastructure with no anti-virus software installed, or outdated versions that have expired and were not providing adequate protection. The Help Desk and University Housing technical support staff have worked with students to assist them in installing or upgrading anti-virus software to enhance network security and privacy.

Unfortunately, the Clean Access software did not initially recognize many valid, recently-released anti-virus packages, resulting in great deal of frustration during the initial rollout period. OIT has worked to try to provide solutions for computers that are legitimately updated and secure, but for a variety of reasons still cannot authenticate successfully with Clean Access.

University Housing residents who have problems connecting with Clean Access have been instructed to request support through their front desk or apartment manager.

Staff and students having difficulty with wireless access should call the OIT Help Desk immediately at 426-4357.
